Community Services
Unit of the Lancaster Police Department

The Community Services Unit of the
Lancaster Police Department is staffed by two full time officers. Both officers
are DARE certified and are responsible for the presentation of the DARE program
in the local schools. Community Services is responsible for planning for
special events and representing the department at community events and
functions. They also present the following programs:
- Safety Town
- Scout Venturing Crew
- Third Grade Safety Belt Education
- Crime Prevention Awareness and Education
- Bicycle Patrol
- Community Oriented Problem Solving
- "Smart Trailer" mobile speed monitoring unit

The Lancaster Police Department is proud to sponsor Venture Crew #2353.
Venturing is a co-ed scouting group (called "crew") for young people between
the ages of 14 and 20. Our Crew is currently recruiting teenagers who have an
interest in learning more about the career of law enforcement.
Venturing focuses on the following basic skills:
- Citizenship
- Leadership
- Physical Fitness
- Socialization
- Outdoors
- Community Service
In addition, Venturing offers spirited young people
opportunities to engage in "high adventure" outings such as:
- Rock climbing
- Whitewater rafting
- Canoeing
- Camping
- Backpacking
- LOTS, LOTS MORE!!!!
