The Detective Bureau is the second
largest subdivision of the department with fourteen officers and civilians
assigned. The Detective Bureau is responsible for investigating all major
cases, felonies, and selected misdemeanor offenses. They also operate the Crime
Search Unit, which is responsible for gathering and preserving evidence at the
scenes of serious felonies and major offenses. The Detective Bureau Captain can
be contacted by telephone at 740-653-2117 ext 4.
The Detective Bureau also manages the following services:
- The Police Property Room
- Civilian Fingerprinting Program
- Narcotics Unit
- Community Services Unit
- Offender Photograph and Fingerprint Files
- Electronic Surveillance Equipment
- Annual Police Auction
